LoVo Cell Line

The LOVO cell line, derived from a grade IV Dukes' type C colon adenocarcinoma, is characterized by mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene, Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS), and tumor protein p53 (TP53). These genetic features are instrumental in studying the molecular basis of colorectal cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance mechanisms. LoVo cells serve as a critical model for screening anti-cancer compounds and by understanding how cancer cells like LoVo develop resistance, researchers can design more effective therapies. LoVo cells are also employed in molecular biology studies to explore signaling pathways that regulate cancer cell growth, survival, and metastasis.
