The HK-2xZFN-Smc4-mEGFP cell line is derived from HeLa Kyoto cells and engineered using Zinc Finger Nuclease (ZFN) technology to target the Smc4 gene. Smc4 is crucial for chromosome condensation and segregation during cell division. This modification helps researchers study chromosomal dynamics and stability. This cell line also features the monomeric Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein (mEGFP) tag, allowing for real-time visualization of cellular processes. The mEGFP tag facilitates the observation of Smc4 expression and localization, aiding in high-throughput screening and live-cell imaging.
